This collection contains the personal papers of Chief Communications Technician Richard Brantman. There is a small amount of material on Brantman and his Navy career, including certificates documenting his training and service, orders, news clippings, and a small amount of correspondence. This material makes up Series I, Biographical Information, and is arranged alphabetically. Series II, Miscellaneous, contains items collected by Brantman during his service. Among the documents in this series are a commissioning program from USS Aldura, currency from China, Japan, and the Philippines, holiday menus from USS Sierra, Aldura, and President Adams, and an unidentified photograph, possibly of Brantman. This series is arranged alphabetically.

Chief Communications Technician Richard Brantman was born in Rochester, Minnesota on 7 February 1924. After attending school in Eyota, Minnesota, he enlisted in the Navy in 1941. He received radio training at Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Illinois and had duty on USS Lardner and Sierra and at the Navy Radio Stations in Washington, DC and Seattle, Washington.
